Teaching Staff:

There are seventy full time and part time teachers.
Teachers must be university graduates, majoring in language, literature, 
history, and related disciplines. Teachers undergo training given by the 
Language Center. The student/teacher ratio is 6.4:1.

Facilities:

Classrooms are air-conditioned and sound-proof. The Language Center 
has a student activity center, reading room, reference library, and 
language laboratory.

Students:

Distribution by national origin: Students come from 53 different 
countries. Male/Female ratio is 1:1.

Admissions:

Applicants must be eighteen years of age or older, with at least a high 
school diploma or equivalent.

Foreign students:Those applying from overseas must complete an 
application form, provide proof of their educational background, and 
include a statement of financial guarantee. Applicants may mail materials 
directly to the Language Center. Those applying from within Taiwan 
must come personally to the Language Center to register. They must 
bring with them their passport and proof of educational background.

Overseas Chinese: Overseas Chinese in Southeast Asia may first apply 
for a clearance document to the Overseas Chinese representatives office 
in their respective countries. If they are successful in obtaining clearance 
from that office, they may then take evidence of that to the ROC 
Representative Office to apply for admission and visas. Overseas 
Chinese in other countries may apply to the school directly.

Calendar:
Twelve one-month terms are offered each year. Terms begin on the first 
day of the month and consist of forty hours of training(two hours each 
day).

Tuition:
Fees are calculated according to the type and number of classes for 
which student register. In order to be considered full-time, a student 
must register for at least ten hours of class per week.

Students living in Taipei will need about NT$15,000 per month for 
living expenses.

Curriculum and Instruction:

Students are placed according to their language ability. The Language 
Center's courses are divided into beginning, intermediate, advanced, and 
reading selections(including Classical Chinese, history, composition, and 
newspaper readings). All instruction is in Chinese. Students may register 
for individual classes, two-student classes, three-to five-student classes, 
and six-to nine-student classes.

Transcripts or Certificates Awarded:

The Language Center will provide students who are enrolled for ten or 
more hours of class per week with certification needed to extend tourist 
visas. Upon completion of their studies, students may apply for a 
certificate from the Language Center.

Students must make their own arrangements for credit.

The Language Center welcomes arrangements for group study. Inquiries
