Occasional Per Diem (OD) Certificate -- day-to-day substitute teacher 3. Preparatory Provisional Certificate (PPC) -- regular assigned substitute teacher (full time) * 1. New York City Regular License * Step 1 : Obtain New York State Certification --------------------------------------------- Before you can apply for a New York City license, you must process a valid N ewYork State Certificate in the subject area. Requirements: * Valid baccalaureate degree (New York State may accept bachelors degree as fromTaiwan) * Require amount of academic credit for specific area of certification * Passing scores on all three parts of the NTE Core Battery of the New York State Teacher Certification Examination (NYSTCE), whichever examination is applicable to the subject area * Two hours training seminar on Child Abuse Detectiohn * Either a college-supervised student teaching experience or one full year of satisfactory full-time paid teaching experience in area of certification (previous teaching experience in Taiwan can be Counted toward this requirement if it is documented) Step 2 : Apply for NYC Regular License --------------------------------------- File application at : 65 Court Street Room 102 Brooklyn, NY 11201 TEL: 718-935-2670 Bring: * Valid NYS Certificate * Post Office Money Order for $ 40.00 payable to OPRAL All applicants must be fingerprinted by the NYC Public School at : 65 Court Street 4th Flool Brooklyn, NY 11201 TEL: 718-935-2664 and obtain clearence from both State and Federal levels, a process taking NO LESS than 14 weeks. Bring: * Two forms of ID, such as valid U.S. passport, social security card, driver 'slisence, birth certificate ... ... et al. (One of them must have a photogr aph) * Post Office Money Order for $ 74.00 payable to DCIS * Poat Office Money Order for $ 10.00 payable to NYC Board of Education Step 3: Receive Certified Provisional Certificate (CPC) --------------------------------------------------------- * After an applicant's fingerprints have received clearence, the application will be processed and a file number will be given. * A CPC will be issued which allows a holder to teach on a full-time or per diem(day to day) basis in our school system in the meantime. Step 4: Take the Regular Lisence Examination (Oral) --------------------------------------------------- * When Regular Lisence Examination are announced, the CPC holder will be automatically notified to take the oral examination. * Upon passing the examination, the Regular Lisence will be issued. Step 5: Become Permanently Appointed ------------------------------------- * Minimum requirement: NYC Regular Lisence * Maximum requirement: Master's degree in an educational related area in fiv eyears; six credits in Special Education; complete of a course on Human Rela tions * 2. Occasional Per Diem Cetificate * * Baccalaureate degree * Must take 6 credits in education if not have any credit in education * Have transcript(s) reviewd at 65 Court Street Rm 102, Brooklyn, NY 11201 * File application with Post Office Money Order for $ 15.00 payable to ORPAL * Be fingerprinted at 65 Court Street 4th Floor, Brooklyn, NY 11201, with Po stOffice Money Order for $ 74.00 payable to DCIS * Receive certificate in the mail with a file number after fingerprints are cleared in 14 weeks * Inform district office or school of availability for day-to-day substitute teaching at that site 3.
