Supplementary Education
Supplementary education in Taiwan can be
divided into five levels, i.e., supplementary primary school, junior high, senior
high/vocational school, junior college, and open university. Supplementary school
graduates have to pass an additional qualification test before they can obtain a diploma.
An exception is that a qualified open university student will be conferred a bachelor
degree without being required to take an additional qualification test if he/she earns the
required number of credits before graduation. Supplementary schools may be set up and run
by private operators and the government. At present, they are mostly public.
